skilled labor. ABC tells our exciting story of opportunity and working the merit
shop way.
ABC Heart of America Chapter with the School-To-Career (STC) program. The
construction industry demands the highest possible skills and abilities to
successfully deal with the complexities of today’s construction techniques.
The ABC STC program offers a way to successfully meet these industry needs and
prepare young people for an open-ended career. Current labor statistics indicate
up to 250,000 craftspersons leave the construction industry each year. The STC
program will play a growing role in insuring a supply of qualified, skilled
craftspersons enter the industry each year.
The programs are taught in using the same curriculum that is used in the
apprenticeship programs. If a student participates in the ABC STC program, they
can take advantage of the following career opportunities:
Have the opportunity to work summers and part-time during the school year
with local contractors earning credits toward their post-secondary
apprenticeship and gaining on-the-job experience.
Enter directly into the workforce with a head start.
Enter apprenticeship training and finish the program while employed and
earning a salary.
