ABC Heart of America Chapter's 2010 Excellence in Construction Awards Program

ELIGIBILITY

Any contractor who is a member in good standing of Associated Builders & Contractors Heart of America Chapter is eligible to participate.

 

PURPOSE

The program is designed to recognize projects of excellence and to elevate awareness of the quality construction performed by ABC member firms and their employees.  The ABC EIC awards program is exclusively for Associated Builders & Contractors members.

 

HOW TO ENTER

1) Begin looking at the projects you would consider entering in the awards program. Consider projects that may have had interesting challenges.

2) Projects must be completed between October 10, 2009 and October 8, 2010.

3) Complete the entry form (one per project – photocopies are accepted) and fax to the ABC office (913) 831-0808.

It is important that you follow the directions of the electronic binder. To obtain your electronic binder kit, click below or email monica@abcksmo.org. $145 per Entry. 

First–time EIC entrants of the ABC Heart of America Chapter are allowed one entry FREE!

Employee Free Choice   ATTACK !

S.O.S. Ballot   ( S ave   O ur   S ecret Ballot) is an initiative to derail the Employee Free Choice Act through local grassroots initiatives. Missouri and   Kansas are among the 12 states where this initiative was introduced.

The S.O.S. Ballot initiative will place into state constitutions the “right” to a secret ballot – confidential voting. Early polling indicates very strong grassroots support for efforts to preserve the secret ballot process, with more than 70% of those polled supporting this effort. The support is even stronger in union households, with close to 80% supporting the secret ballot.

Missouri has filed an initiative petition with the Secretary of State, and also has filed a joint resolution (House Joint Resolution 37) in the Legislature to put this issue on the November 2010 ballot. Kansas has filed a resolution in the Legislature, as Kansas lacks an initiative petition process.

Employee Free Choice Act / Card Check

In response to the Baltimore Building and Construction Trades Department’s efforts to limit construction to union-only contractors, seven local general and subcontractors met in the home of Charles Mullan on May 1, 1950 to establish Associated Builders and Contractors of Baltimore.
