I want to volunteer to help with a committee.AmbassadorsThe mission of the Ambassadors Committee is to help orient new members to ABC and encourage their active involvement. The committee also encourages veteran members to become more involved and take advantage of their membership. Committee volunteers encourage maximum usage of ABC by notifying members of upcoming general membership meetings, committee activities and other ABC events. Chair: Dan Bowden, Bowden Contracting CompanyMembership Growth CommitteeThis group is charged with the membership growth. The team meets on a regular basis and provides the direction that the chapter needs for continued growth. This committee’s efforts are vital for the chapter’s success in recruitment of new members. Chair: Gene Mertz, Four Star Electric, Inc. This committee provides oversight and direction for ABC educational programs, including Apprenticeship and Management/supervisory training. The Education Committee promotes programs that reach out to area schools and civic organizations to inform and educate them about careers in the various crafts and trades represented by ABC membership. The Business Development committee's mission statement is to support and promote growth between ABC members for the advancement of relationships and growth of new merit shop business opportunities. Activities include developing programs to encourage owners to use merit shop contractor services and assisting members in implementing successful business development programs for their own firms. Chair: Brian Treat, Service Electric, Inc.
The Safety Committee promotes an active interest in safety among the ABC membership. It is also responsible for evaluating, recommending, and implementing safety programs and seminars that best serve member needs. This committee takes an active role in partnering with OSHA to foster an ongoing relationship that reduces workplace injury for the ABC membership. Chair: Adam Crowl, Straub Construction Co.
The Construction Leadership Committee (CLC) was created to encourage interaction specifically for individuals under 35 years of age. This committee coordinates networking events to foster relationships with other "up and comers" in merit shop. Co-Chair: Chad Johnson, SM Wilson The regional councils board assists in planning seminars, events and membership meetings in the St. Louis area. Chair: Dale Winters, hth companies
This important committee is responsible for planning and implementing political fund raising campaigns to support pro merit shop candidates, and to submit legislation which benefits ABC members. This committee also monitors state and local legislation that affects members and is charged with researching and informing the membership on local, state and federal legislative matters. They also oppose city, county, state and federal legislation/ordinances which discriminate against merit shop contractors or would be detrimental to them.
