Women - Why choose a career in Construction?
ABC Heart of America is committed to increasing women's representation in the construction industry. More and more women in this economy are realizing that construction is not a male dominated industry anymore. Women are now beginning to appreciate that a career in the building industry offers a world of opportunity.
Great future
Apprenticeships in the construction trades offer a way out of dead-end jobs and put women on a successful path to financial success.
Marketable Skills
As an apprentice, you’ll be paid to learn your job. For many apprentices, their employer pays for your on-the-job learning and technical classroom training, so you don’t have to worry about finding the time or money to go back to school.
Apprenticeship
Our program will not only benefit the students, but improve and rejuvenate the construction industry in need of new young professionals.
Additional Recourses
ABC Heart of America has teamed up with The National Association of Women in Construction.
The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) was founded in 1953 by 16 women working in the construction industry. Knowing that women represented only a small fraction of the construction industry, the founders organized NAWIC to create a support network. NAWIC’s core purpose is to enhance the success of women in the construction industry. http://nawic.org
