The ABC Heart of America School-to-Career (STC) Program in partnership with the National Center for Education and Research (NCCER) is an effort to assist local schools to develop a learning system that promotes attainment of high academic standards, career development and workforce preparation for every student.
Many students sit in a classroom and wonder, "When am I ever going to use this information?" the real world can seem a million miles away. To receive a superior education, they need to see the relevancy of rigorous academic studies to their own lives.
The construction industry demands the highest possible skills and abilities to successfully deal with the complexities of today’s construction techniques. The ABC STC program offers a way to successfully meet these industry needs and prepare young people for an open-ended career. Current labor statistics indicate over 250,000 craftsperson’s leave the construction industry each year. The ABC STC program will play a growing role in insuring a supply of qualified, skilled craftsperson’s entering the industry each year.
