Because members give valuable time to their association, we have made the process as rewarding and simple as possible for you. If groups meet in person, they normally meet once a month. So that all members throughout the Chapter can participate, meetings are scheduled well in advance. Some working groups decide that work may be performed more efficiently over the phone or via the internet. These types of meetings can be arranged by the individual working group. If you have specific questions regarding committee work, duties, or selection process, call Brandi Murr at the ABC office.
This committee is charged with reviewing and upgrading all of the chapter’s training programs, including apprenticeship training and management/supervisory training. Both management and craft level workers are encouraged to serve on the committee. The Education Committee promotes communication among diverse populations of the construction industry through cooperative education and training efforts.
The Safety Committee creates and maintains an active interest in safety among the ABC membership. It is also responsible for evaluating, recommending, and implementing safety programs and seminars that best serve member needs. It is responsible for overseeing the annual safety contest and safety conference. The committee also administers the Chapter’s two Slat OSHA Partnership.
This committee monitors state and local legislation that affects members and is charged with researching and informing the membership on local, state, and federal legislative matters. They also make recommendations to Board of Directors regarding issues that may affect Merit Shop Contractors.
The Eastern Missouri Council they plan events within the area and discuss current issues affecting contractors in the area
The Member Growth & Services Coordinating Committee has the important responsibility of increasing member retention and growth, as well as coordinating the following. They determine member needs and encourage members to attend various functions. They also encourage members to become more active to obtain the greatest value of their dues, and to fully understand the benefits of ABC membership.
The Business Development Committee is charged with increasing the public’s awareness of ABC and our merit shop philosophy, as well as overseeing programs to inhance the market share for merit shop contractors. Activities include developing programs to encourage owners to use merit shop contractor’s service; assisting members in implementing successful business development programs to help members gain work from other members.
Are you tired of being overlooked because you are under 35? The Construction Leadership Committee was created to encourage an industry leadership track specifically for individuals under 35. This committee is charged with coordinating educational and networking events to develop leadership skills.
The mission of the Ambassadors Committee is to help orient new members of ABC and encourage their active involvement. The committee also encourages veteran members to become more involved and take advantage of their membership. Committee members encourage involvement in ABC by notifying members of upcoming general membership events, committee activities, and other ABC events.
The Golf Committee is responsible for the planning and direction of the ABC golf tournaments. Committee members are responsible for selecting the course, marketing the event, and soliciting sponsorships. It is also responsible for coordinating the Annual Excellence in Construction Awards.
